Give Thanks. Walk.

Sports & RecreationIt doesn’t take a lot of effort to do a whole lot of good for those in need. In fact, it all takes is committing to participate in the upcoming “St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk.” Taking place on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Philadelphia and in more than 75 other cities across America, the 5k walk is being organized to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. The walk begins at the Philadelphia Zoo at 9:00 a.m. Check-in is an hour before at 8:00 a.m. with live music by School of Rock beginning shortly after that to help get everyone inspired. There is no fee to enter this family-friendly event. To make getting involved easier, there are pre-written emails you can use to invite family and friends to participate by either walking or donating or both.

The money raised goes to research for pediatric treatment for St. Jude’s, which features research facilities and patient care all in one building. That means that all the scientific discoveries go right from the laboratories directly to the patients as well as to medical people around the globe. The discoveries made at St. Jude’s have completely revolutionized how kids with cancer and other devastating diseases are treated. And all the money raised goes to help cover the medical bills for families, which means that no one ever has to pay for anything at St. Jude. So grab your walking shoes and help make the world a healthier place.
